How to Properly Break In Your Miniature V8 Gasoline Engine

Breaking in a multi-cylinder miniature gasoline engine—such as the CISON LS-52 (52cc), CISON Small-Block 44cc, or TOYAN FS-V800 (28cc)—is the most critical stage for seating piston rings against the cylinder liner and establishing high compression.

1. Fuel & Lubrication Mixture

For pre-mix lubricated gasoline engines, use clean 92# or 95# unleaded gasoline mixed at a rich 20:1 to 25:1 ratio with full-synthetic 2-stroke motorcycle oil during the first 45 minutes of operation. For wet-sump engines like the CISON LS-52, fill the crankcase with 25mL of 10W-50 4T synthetic oil.

2. Thermal Heat Cycling Protocol

Do not hold a new engine at wide-open throttle. Run the engine at a fast idle (2,500–3,800 RPM) for 4 minutes while monitoring coolant circulation. Shut the engine down and let the block cool completely to room temperature. Repeat for 4 to 5 thermal cycles so the cast-iron rings mate evenly with the cylinder walls.
